Day 2: WHOOOO!

IMG_2301 (640x480)

Day 2 started off early out in Surprise, AZ. We decided we would hit up the training facility at Surprise because we thought we would try and get Guthrie at the KC training facility. We got there right as gates were opening at 10 and did not get anything from any KC players. So we waited until gates opened and then went to the Rockies @ Rangers game. This was a split squad so we were not sure who would be coming to Surprise to play.

While we were waiting outside we met up with Tanya and her friends Kristin and Ryan.

As the gates opened we went immediately to the Rockies wall and waited for them to come out and warm up.  They team came out about 30 min before the game to warm-up and sign some autographs.

Rockies warming up

This was a good game and it looked like it was going to be a quick game but once they put Bentancourt in one inning took as long as the pervious innings put together.

Tyler Chatwood

Chatwood started this game and looked great through 3 solid innings.

JP batting

Rockies got on the board early in the 2nd inning by Torrealba’s double which Colvin and Blackmon scored with one out. Next batter was Brignac who RBI singled and brought Torrealba in.

They battled through the 5th and then the Rockies opened it up in the 6th by scoring 9 including a homerun by Baby Bull and Reid Brignac!

Nolan Ryan in the Blue

During the 8th inning Mariano and I got in a line to get Nolan Ryan’s autograph. After waiting for him to sign for his whole section then he signs for about 100 people and is done. Mariano and I were 12th and 13th in line which was great because we went down and was able to meet him and get an awesome autograph.

View from AZ wall

After we got Ryan’s autograph we headed back to Goodyear to watch the Diamondbacks at Cleveland. On the way to the stadium we almost got in a really bad accident but we finally made it to the ballpark just in time for us to get a decent place on Arizona’s wall. We were hoping to see 2 former Rockies Wil Neives and Matt Reynolds, but neither had made the road trip with the team.

W sat out in the grass this game which was nice because we were able to be neutral and just relax during this game. Arizona ended up beating Cleveland  7-5 but it was actually a very good game.

Mariano and his rally plantano!

One highlight of this game was the fact that Mark Reynolds of the Indians crushed a homer over the scoreboard and almost out of the stadium.  That homerun had to easily of went 450 feet.
